Fernbank Farm is located in Wyong Creek, Yarramalong, on the NSW Central Coast, and it’s one of my favourite places to shoot. There are so many varied and beautiful opportunities for photos, from the lake to the Cyprus trees and the long grass field. Not forgetting the huge Arbour that is synonymous with the venue.
When I met Elise and Sam, I knew their wedding would be easy-going. They were both really chilled and just wanted a relaxed, beautiful day. Despite having a couple of rescheduled due to the big C-word, when the day finally happened, it went off without a hitch.
Fernbank Farm is known for its gorgeous gardens and its huge Wisteria-covered Arbour, which can look completely different in every season, but always amazing. With their wedding being in Summer, it meant the arbour was in full green mode, to which they added simple but elegant linen draping. Relaxed Wedding Preparations & Styling
When I arrived, I found Sam and the boys on the Tennis Court. True to his active nature, Sam and his groomsmen played a couple of rounds to relax and calm their nerves before the ceremony. I always love capturing fun moments like these when people are just being themselves. Meanwhile, the girls were busy getting ready in the main house. Elise chose a very elegant, minimalist gown with clean white florals.
Wedding Ceremony under the Arbour
Elise and Sam chose Peter Bray to be their Celebrant on the day. It was actually my first time meeting him but he is a born entertainer and kept everything light-hearted. The boys got their own moment of walking down the aisle, which everyone really enjoyed, and it built the energy for the Ceremony. When Elise walked in with her dad, the emotions were full of excitement with their son keen to get a glimpse of his Mum approaching! Peter always gets a quirky photo with his couples after the ceremony, generally of him jumping, so on this occasion, I wanted to turn it into a gif for a bit of fun movement.
Wedding Photo Locations at Fernbank Farm
After the Ceremony, I took the Wedding Party for a walk around the grounds, where we found a stunning Jacaranda Tree with its delicate purple leaves. Everyone chilled and mingled with drinks and canapes before moving to the Reception in the Marquee. The couple had chosen a colour palette of whites, keeping everything light, bright, minimal and elegant, with draping linen and crystal chandeliers.
During the reception, I noticed the light was sitting perfectly above the property. I took Sam and Elise for a sunset walk up to the field of long grass, which was not only great for photos but also meant they had some time together away from the crowds to reflect on their day.
Sam’s sister, Bronte, performed their first dance song, which was a really special moment for the couple. Then the dance floor kicked on and even turned into a bit of a mosh pit!!
Testimonial
“A huge shout out to Chris from Underatreehouse Photography for going above and beyond to produce such stunning photos from our big day! We are absolutely thrilled with the end results and will cherish these moments for years to come.
Chris was professional in all our dealings leading up to the big day and was extremely easy-going and comfortable to be around on the day. He ensured we didn’t miss a thing from our wedding, and I love all the candid moments he captured with our guests that we would’ve missed otherwise.
Thank you so much, Chris, for being so fantastic! I would highly recommend you to anyone out there looking for a wedding photographer of their own.”
