When Dani & Germán emailed me to say they were planning to Elope on a cliff edge in the Bouddi National Park on the NSW Central Coast my heart soared. For one thing, I’d already photographed these guys a few times in their business, Slowwell, in Ettalong, and for another, I knew this location was going to be Epic!!
Slow by Choice
Dani & Germán are all about taking things slow. They recently opened a coffee, retail shop, and wellness centre in the coastal town of Ettalong Beach, bringing something new to the area since their coffee is brewed slowly, using filter methods like V60 Pour Over and Batch Brew.
Germán brings with him years of experience in the coffee industry, having worked with coffee giant Campos and other small-scale boutique roasters. They want to add a fresh perspective on Coffee drinking to an area that is rapidly developing its tastes as the demographic starts to change.
Dani is a qualified Psychotherapist, Counselor and Coach. She wishes to create a space for people to unwind, embrace their inner calm and connect with the world around them.
I popped in to chat with them, have a coffee, and take some photos of the shop on a couple of occasions, so I was honoured when they asked me to be a part of their Elopement.
On the Day of their Elopement
We began the day at their home in Blackwall, where they got ready with just a handful of their closest family. Unfortunately, Germán’s family weren’t able to be physically with us as they live in Colombia, but they were kept involved with everything through the brilliance of video calls.
Once ready, we moved to Putty Beach and met with their Celebrant, Sally, in the Bouddi National Park to walk up to the clifftop where they planned to say their vows.
The weather was overcast, and there was a very high chance of rain but the clouds kept it to themselves and it worked out beautifully to create a little drama in the sky and keep everyone from getting burnt! There was so much laughter all afternoon and looking through the pictures brings all that back.
The Ceremony was beautiful and intimate. The perfect compliment to their philosophy of calm, quiet, and purely about them as a couple. Germán’s family tuned in from Colombia and afterward, there was a little surprise awaiting the family…but you’ll have to check out the pictures for what that was…and the reaction 😉
Being a part of this day really allowed me to feel connected to the landscape and my own inner peace. This really entailed why I love it when a couple decides to Elope. It’s an honest and true experience that is completely about the love shared between the couple.
Here’s to many more days like today!!
