Post-Covid Inspirational Styled Shoot at Gracelands
I’m sure it’s not going to come as a shock but the last couple of years have been pretty crap for everyone that’s part of the wedding industry. It’s been even worse for the poor couples who have had to postpone and rearrange their big day 2, 3, 4, even 5 times as restrictions have changed and goalposts have been moved due to government rules and restrictions around the pandemic.
During this time, a bunch of us creatives got together to create a vision that would bring life and colour to what was feeling like a pretty grey world at the time. We wanted to inspire our couples and the wider community to come back from the lockdowns bigger and brighter than ever. To say a big ‘F U’ to current trends and design something that represented exactly who our couples are and the statement they want to make about their love!
In stepped Bonnie (Everlong Events), Jess (Mimosa Floral Design), and Stef (Gracelands), who conceptualised the colour bursts of energy we see before us. I was brought in to bring the concepts to life in visual form (i.e. photograph it) and a whole bunch of other talented folks from the Central Coast lent their time and skills to complete the vision.
Everyone involved in the shoot could not be prouder of the day we created. We worked bloody hard to get through a lot of ideas and show off everybody’s talents and we also showed that the Central Coast cannot be overlooked when it comes to both wedding venues and vendors.
Gracelands is a unique wedding venue that offers space for both an outdoor ceremony and a beautiful blank canvas on which to build your wedding vision for your reception. Even if you choose to pare it back to minimal, the way that Stef and the team have designed it means that you can also bask in minimalist glory if you prefer not to go overboard on styling. All of this whilst being tucked away in an almost hidden spot in amongst a small row of shops in the idyllic Forresters Beach. They even create custom cakes!
Bonnie and Jess worked together to really style the venue in a new way. As one of the most talented and sought-after wedding florists on the Coast, Jess used spray paint to bring real in-your-face colour to the already unique flowers installations she made, which created the centrepieces of Bonnie’s styling vision. This included the large pink ‘love sick’ letters behind the bridal table and the use of fresh fruit to add something unique to the floral setups.
The stationery, which was designed by Better Together Paper Co perfectly reflected the colourful vibe we were going for and was completely custom-designed to even include hand-drawn graphics of the venue! JC Entertainment brought the musicians and the tunes and Taylor Beck designed the beautiful hair and makeup for our models Ash and Jack, who were dressed by Lily Grace Bridal.
