When I got a call one day from Mudgee to ask if I could photograph a country style wedding on the coast I obviously jumped at the chance. Cowboy boots on the bride? Yes please!!
Inevitably I was super excited to have the chance to photograph something very unique in this area, as we are based near the coast, we don’t tend to get too many ‘cowboys’ around here getting married. Some of Josh’s family lived in nearby Erina and so they had decided to have the ceremony by the coast, followed by the reception a week later in their home town of Rhylstone, in country NSW.
A few weeks later I met Stacey, Josh and their families at the house they had rented in Booker Bay. They kept the styling very simple but beautiful nonetheless, using hessian to keep with the country theme and injected a pop of yellow with sunflowers for the bouquets. The boys had neck-ties made with initials for the bride, groom and best man on them. Josh even wore his Akubra style hat with cow tag hanging off it, which had been signed by some rodeo stars. How much more authentic can you get than that?
After the ceremony in the back yard, we took the bridal party down to Woy Woy, where there is a tree that is fantastic for photographs. The branches fan out like a huge umbrella.
Walking along the waterfront we spotted an octopus hiding in the weeds and had fun with some natural photos on the pier and at the local park, where we found a tree that everybody could climb up into!
It was great to be part of the Coastal part of the wedding and we hope Stacey and Josh had an equally fab time at their Country Reception…
